I'm really happy to share that I have completed 4 AWS certifications with the AWS Solutions Architect - Professional... just in time to achieve my 2017 goal. I'd like to express one big Thank You to the ACloudGuru crew for brilliant content. I found it extremely helpful in learning how to think the AWS way and how to properly apply "exam question surgery". My two cents for the aspiring candidates who are preparing: Professional exam really tests your knowledge in the topics and not a test on pure memorizing skills. This exam is more focused towards practical implementation of different AWS services and how they fit together to solve a given business problem. So, do not rush for this exam if you do not have some experience working/building solutions with AWS. Please focus on understanding the concepts, benefits & Anti-Patterns of each AWS service clearly. If you have cleared the Associate exam, you need not worry about memorizing some numbers/metrics. Here’s how I prepared: • Ryan’s video course The course is good for an overview, itself is not sufficient to pass the exam. Certainly recommended going through Ryan's 'Exam Tips' for each section, before a day or two of the exam. • reInvent videos - at 2x speed Re-invent videos are very long ones but definitely helps to understand the concept clearly. Again while watching these videos, no need to attempt for memorization. • AWS Whitepapers & FAQ - for any service I wasn't completely clear on. Core services such as EC2 (including cost models), EBS (PIOPS, RAID Configuration), AutoScaling, ELB, Route53, CloudFormation, S3, CloudFront, Kinesis. I got some questions on OpsWorks as well. • Jayendra Patil's blog (the real treasure) Practice Exam was very tough. I also took WhizLabs practice exams. well worth, it gives you a lot of good questions to practice, which is really helpful. In the last 24 hours, I was mainly working on the practice exam question screenshots, looking up concepts I wasn't familiar with. I practiced the technique of looking at the last sentence in a question and quickly analyzing what is required. My biggest fear was running out of time, so at the start (before clicking start) I split out what question I should be up to at 20-minute intervals. I managed to get 77% and had 30 mins spare at the end In my next article, I will share the study material I referred to clear this gigantic exam !! What next? Time to book the DevOps pro exam to complete set of all 5 certs and get cracking. Happy Learning to all.
